Artz 'N' Action: Creativity, Culture & Caring for Kids (Teens & Adults)

Artz 'N' Action is more than a children's "arts & crafts" course, it's an active study in the fine arts that gives children the opportunity to explore their world & find their inner creativity, in a caring environment that nurtures their self esteem. Children need to dream and express themselves in order to grow. They need to understand and respect the beauty and diversity of the world around them in order to find themselves. MORE >

There is something very special about creating art when nature is all around you...

Sand Art & Sky/Water Color - We'll make sand art creations and let the open sky and rolling waters inspire us to paint realistic sky and water scenes as we take in the outdoors.

Nature Adventure (journaling/scrapbooking/sketching) - We’ll walk the beautiful trails of magnolias and create a nature journal documenting trees, plants and wildlife we experience.

Circle of Life Mandala - We’ll gather things from nature and create a mandala to represent the circle/cycle of life. The mandala or "circle with a center" pattern is the basic structure of everything God created. It is a pattern found in nature: in flowers, the rings found in tree trunks and the spiraling outward and inward of a snail's shell, biology, the universe and beyond.

ANA Testimonials

"Christy, thank you for such an awesome day. You and your husband were so wonderful at our workshop. The kids loved the art activities and the opportunity to be creative. They all were so proud of their work when their parents came to pick them up. I hope we can collaborate something again in the future. You guys were GREAT!

Sincerely, Cynthia

"Our daughter is so looking so forward to starting classes again. I think she learned a lot in her 1st session of classes. It is great that it's educational & fun for her. I am not an artsy person but she is and I felt I was holding her back. Your classes have given her the opportunity to express herself through visual arts that I would not be able to do." - Charlene, mother of 10 year old daughter

---

"Our youngest son, (age 8) has two older brothers with special health needs. Unfortunately, he has lived in their shadow most of his life, but since he started taking classes at Artz 'N' Action, he has begun to open up and develop a stronger sense of self. Even our family has noticed how much more talkative he is and remark about how proudly he displays his artwork when friends and family come to visit. This is "his" thing. He's not just the little brother or the son, he's got his own identity, he's "an artist"!" - Dixie

----

"When my daughter began taking the classes she was unhappy with her work at first because she thought it needed to look a certain way, but Christy teaches the kids that there are "no mistakes in art" and that"everything is fixable". She let's them know that sometimes what they might perceive as "an accident", that would usually make them take their art straight to the trash, can actually be just what they need to take their art to another level. It helps them get out of their own way so that they can enjoy the process and be proud of the finished works. She's starting to find her own voice. Needless to say, we are very happy with Artz 'N' Action!

"My children have enjoyed ANA art classes so much.  The classes have not only taught the kids different techniques, but have exposed them to many different types of art mediums.  I have seen their confidence grow.  Before these classes, the girls would always find fault with their artwork, now they look forward to sharing it with others.  The oldest has always wanted to paint and yet after the ANA class on working with clay she found a new love.  We’ve put her artwork around her room and what a joy for me to see her smile at her accomplishments.  I cannot say enough about Artz 'N' Action art classes.  I am always amazed how Christy is able to balance teaching the class as a whole and make each child feel special as well as the art they have created.  I love the art gallery she puts together at the end of classes.  It is one more opportunity for the kids to not only show off their work but be proud of the work they have created.  We will continue to not only be a part of your classes but encourage others to be a part of them as well. - Melissa, mother of 11 year old twin girls
